Chapter 65: I am not a Number and School

So on Day 3, after the first real good nights sleep, we went to Portmeirion, the small village in which the filmed the cult classic British series "The Prisoner". It was pretty neat to see it, even though I was never as enamored with the show as others were. But nevertheless I found myself kind of interested in in the architecture and whatnot...and really wanted to watch the show again. The buildings were really interesting, they were built on hillsides, and they all look like the naturally grow out of the rock. Amazing work.

After that we kind of chilled back in our hotel, and then we went to see the castle in Caernarfon, which was closed. Missed it by 15 minutes, unfortunately all the places we tried to stop in to get a small bite to eat to hold us over until dinner also closed before we got there, or they were only serving drinks and not food. So we ended up stuck...and ate at KFC. It was kind of interesting though, as it tasted better than any KFC in the States. We ended up having some beers at a nice little pub, before heading over to a restaurant for dinner.

This morning we had to get up early, to visit at the University of Bangor here in Wales, and see a presentation from our very own Jeanne. It was actually a really interesting presentation. After the class ended we watched a documentary produced by the teacher of the course, which was really intriguing, about a Welsh town destroyed and turned into a reservoir, forcing all of the residents out. Fascinating and haunting. After that we had some tea and biscuits while talking with some of the professors from Bangor's film department.

We took a walk down to the pier, took some photos, watched a talented singer/guitarist play, gave her some change, then got some lunch.

After chilling out we discussed tomorrow's plan and went to a restaurant/pub for dinner and drinks, this was the first time everybody ate together, and we had a blast. Some maybe drank too much, but all in all it was a terrific little evening.
